For the most accurate results, use a cable to connect your computer to your router. If you need to test wirelessly, position yourself as close to your router as possible. Make sure that nothing else is using your internet connection, or running on your computer, while performing the test.
When you use our tool, we'll use your IP address to run the speed test. We'll store this data anonymously, in accordance with our privacy notice, to help with our campaigning work. Once you have your results, we'll ask if you'd like to provide an email address to send your results to. Your IP address will then be logged alongside your email address. We'll treat your data with great care and in accordance with our privacy notice.
